(NYSE: BKS), the nation’s largest retail bookseller and the leading retailer of content, digital media and educational products, today announced special events in all stores nationwide during the week of July 21 as part of Get Pop-Cultured with Barnes & Noble, a month-long pop culture celebration. On Wednesday, July 23, Barnes & Noble stores nationwide will host Batman Day, a special celebration of the Caped Crusader with Batman-themed activities, giveaways and exclusive Batman merchandise. Barnes & Noble will also host a DC Comics Spectacular from Wednesday, July 23, through Sunday, July 27, with fun activities, special giveaways and an exciting 5-day-only offer of buy 2, get the 3rd free on all DC Comics graphic novels. Additionally, Barnes & Noble has partnered with FUNKO to offer exclusive, never-before-seen, collectibles during the Barnes & Noble Comic Convention Collectibles weekend from Thursday, July 24, through Sunday, July 27, while supplies last. Batman Day – July 23
It’s been 75 years since Batman first appeared in Detective Comics #27 and he has become one of the most popular superheroes and cultural icons of the last century. Barnes & Noble is celebrating the Caped Crusader’s enormous influence on pop culture on Batman Day, July 23, at all Barnes & Noble stores with fun Batman-themed activities, special giveaways, and Batman merchandise.  Special merchandise includes a Batman comic book giveaway (limited supplies) of a special edition 75th anniversary collector’s issue featuring the original Batman story (issue #27) and Brad Meltzer’s re-imagined story of Batman’s origins (#27 New 52 series); free giveaways of bags, bookmarks, and buttons while supplies last; and the chance to win a Mini Bat Signal.

Barnes & Noble stores across the country have many exciting activities and events planned. The Barnes & Noble store in Cedar Rapids, IA, will have one of the original Batmobiles from the 1960’s television series that is signed by Adam West, while the Barnes & Noble store in Eden Prairie, MN, will have a full-size, 1960’s replica of the Batmobile, complete with a bat phone, bat scope and atomic power exhausts. Fans can see them up close and take pictures to share with friends on social media. Other highlights include: the Union Square store in New York City will host a LEGO group build with Batman LEGO kits; the store at The Grove in Los Angeles will host a special Batman Day costume parade; the Barnes & Noble in Broomall, PA, will host a fun Batman cookie decorating activity as well as superhero photoshoots; and the Barnes & Noble store on the Upper West Side in New York City will host a model Gotham City and Storytime with Batman. DC Comics Spectacular – July 23 to July 27
DC Comics is the creator of a pantheon of massively popular characters including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman, Hawkman and The Green Arrow, as well as superhero teams the Justice League and the Teen Titans.
