It’s time for Blue Plum’s annual historical festival, and everyone—including Kath and her spunky fiber and needlework group, TGIF—is getting in on the action. Expert spinners are being gathered, and a businessman has approached Kath about using the second-floor windows of her store for part of a reenactment. But the reenactment ends in real-life bloodshed when local baker Reva Louise Snapp is shot—with a bullet from a modern-day gun.
Kath has her theories about who wanted to end Reva Louise’s life. But there’s also talk of a sniper stalking Blue Plum, and Kath’s shop is suspected to be the murderer’s hideout. Now Kath, her TGIF pals, and the gloomy ghost, Geneva, must unravel the mystery quickly, or someone else might be left hanging by a thread....

This was a great read! I love to knit in my free time, but I love to read more…I haven’t gotten much knitting done in the past few months. This book didn’t delve into the intense details that some knitting mysteries I’ve read in the past do, and I was very grateful. I was happy to appreciate being in the imaginary company of people who enjoy knitting without focusing on the patterns they were knitting. I really enjoyed the characters, especially the ghost that haunts the yarn shop, The Weaver’s Cat. The ghost, Geneva, is a hoot and definitely plays by her own rules.
Geneva may have seen a murder. Well, two actually. One that may put the yarn shop in jeopardy and one when she was still alive. This actually sparks memories in Geneva’s uh…ghost brain about her life. Separating the past from the present isn’t one of Geneva’s strong points and the owner of the shop, Kath aka Red needs Geneva to remember what she may have seen before someone else ends up well… like Geneva.
Kath is a strong character. She trusts her instincts, helps people, and tells it like she sees it. I love that! Kath is so awesome (to me) that she even calls the annoying local police officer “Clod” instead of his name. She has some good zingers in the book that kept me laughing. Kath investigates with the help of her knitting group which is, no lie, called the Fast and Furious Knitters. The yarn club she runs out of the shop is TGIF…Thank Goodness It’s Fiber. I’m all for corny references, they make me smile. I like the town the story takes place in and Kath’s friends. Kath has a cat but he isn’t funny like some of the other cozy mystery pets I’ve encountered recently. Is this series worth continuing? Reading the first two? Yes! The yarn club gets into all types of shenanigans and I really want to find out about Geneva…how did she die and why is she haunting the yarn shop? I hope to find out soon!

This sounds like a fun read! I love knitting too - although I'm not very good at all!
